Demonstrates the ability to integrate the concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures among the disciplines.  Candidate performance demonstrating the following capabilities informs this standard.

The ability to:

  1. Create learning experiences in which students are required to construct knowledge and test hypotheses using the methods of inquiry and standards of evidence of multiple disciplines.
  2. Encourage students to recognize and respect the interdependence of all knowledge and ideas by combining and integrating knowledge of different disciplines.

1.Create learning experiences in which students are required to construct knowledge and test hypotheses using the methods of inquiry and standards of evidence of multiple disciplines.

Students explored new materials and techniques, yupo watercolor paper and deductive painting. AP students had previous knowledge of drawing from still life. This was a new technique for them to test. We placed watercolor on the smooth yupo paper and let dry for a couple minutes. Then we used various materials, like Q-tip, cotton ball, paper towel and needle, to take away paint. This was a deductive process. Students combined their knowledge of still life drawing using new techniques and methods.

2. Encourage students to recognize and respect the interdependence of all knowledge and ideas by combining and integrating knowledge of different disciplines.

Students explored 3-d making by using one shape multiply times. This was a two day experimental project, where students used paper and tape to construct sculptures. Students had to take their knowledge of 2-dimensional space shapes and integrate into 3-dimensional space.

3. Pursue and acquire material and human resources in various disciplines for classroom use.

For two class periods students studied famous abstract painters by looking through classroom books, choosing one to study and replicate work. The classroom was filled with 10 books to choose from. This assignment gave students the opportunity to explore subject matter and style of abstraction to prepare them for their own artwork. Students shared the information they learned and ways their artist abstracted.
