I focus my artwork on selecting figures and landscapes that share uniqueness. Both sources offer an organic quality and opportunity to explore the interpretation of meaning. My pieces are rich and full of visible brushstrokes. I am not refining or editing to show greatness of detail but to describe the essence of my subjects. My main goal is to show the “big picture” a glimpse of larger reality. Modern day perception of attractiveness does not influence or dictate my works. The peculiarities found in people’s features or cracks through a road, speak most loudly. I am drawn to the pure beauty that exists in these imperfections. With imperfection comes greater truth and authenticity. My paintings are simple in technique and brushstrokes yet deeper in meaning. It is through intentional subject choices that my paintings become most honest.
