In Spring of 2015, USM offered an Artist in Residency course with Traci Molloy. The course was to focus on a collaboration with The Center of Grieving Children of Southern Maine and their multicultural group. The students being represented are either first or second generation refugees and have experienced some form of trauma. The work that Traci intended on doing with the students was to understand the meaning of identity for these individuals. There were two projects- students in middle school and high school, both projects turned out beautiful. Having this experience gives me further understanding of what collaboration in art means and how powerful of an impact art can help and share the stories of these students.

The projects were displayed in the University of Southern Maine Portland campus gallery and in the Abromson Center also located in Portland. The middle school project is displayed in the Portland Public Library until May of 2015. Also to come, is a documentary about USM's Artist in Residency program, which focuses on this particular collaboration.
