Surrealist Collage

“My painting is visible images which conceal nothing.  They evoke mystery and indeed when one sees one of my pictures, one asks oneself this simple question 'What does that mean'? It does not mean anything, because mystery means nothing either, it is unknowable.”  –Rene Magritte

Assignment:

  1. Collect images from magazines to be used in your surrealist collage

  2. Cut images carefully so that they can be seamlessly combined with other images

  3. Arrange them in a unique and interesting composition

  4. Adhere them to the paper using glue
  5. Next class you will turn your collage into a surrealist painting!
